Tips for watering
Ok so now you got the new sprinkler system.What next? Set it and forget it ? Answer no ! Automatic sprinkler systems are set-up at time of installation for the needs of that application. Walk your yard. If you are watering area's that are staying wet then turn that zone off or lower the minutes. On hot days west and south facing area's may need more time. Shade area's north and east will use less water. Clay soils prevent grass from rooting deep unless they stress . It is important to soak it and then let it stress making the roots find water deeper. On new sod applications sprinkler sytems are set-up to soak the grass .Until that grass is rooted you must continue to keep it wet during hot weather. We like to see our sod stay wet until you can't pull it up by hand. Never let your grass turn brown on new sod you could lose the whole yard. Once you get roots then make them go deeper by stressing it. You will make a healthy turf and better yard to use if you practice good watering habits.
